1970 GTO Judge: Before And After Restoration Photos
If you are lucky enough to find a classic GTO Judge and the body is in good shape, you will be amazed what a quality restoration can do for it. The picture above is a 1970 GTO Judge that had been just sitting in someone’s garage for about 25 years. The owner had planned to “fix it up” one day but had never gotten around to it. Then in 2008 this GTO Judge was purchased and this owner contacted a restoration shop in O’Neill, Nebraska, where the restoration process was to begin. The new owner was able to pick and choose the things he wanted restored right away, and which ones would have to wait based on budget constraints. This car was repainted to its original color and the stripes applied to bring back the ’70s presence that make it popular even today. Just about everything except the interior of this Judge was restored over a 5 month period, bringing the car purchase plus restoration cost to approximately $46,000. The finished product is amazing. This is a car that has been truly brought back to life. The restoration job that was done on this car is top notch and will allow this classic car to increase in value. You don’t want to spend the money for your classic car and then have a bad restore job done to it. Do your research. Ask to see cars that have been restored. Visit former clients and check out the work that was done on their cars. Most classic car owners love to show off their cars, so that is usually not a problem. Again, go to car shows in your area. It’s the best way to gather information. The thing I like about the before and after pictures here, is that you can see what can be done with a car that looked as bad as this one did in the beginning and then see what an amazing restoration can do for it. Keep your options open and you will find your classic GTO. For a great guide to restoring your GTO yourself, check out
